Access control systems in a hospital or healthcare setting are used to monitor who enters certain areas, such as the pharmacy. It can also prevent mental health patients from wandering away from their ward. There are also bracelets for patient tracking, and tags for babies that lock down doors to prevent babies from being
removed from the maternity ward.
Access control is used in combination with magnetic locks, card readers and biometric readers, vehicle or man gates, badging stations and surveillance systems. Magnetic stripe cards are easily deactivated and replaced in the event of loss, whereas master keys are more expensive and more difficult to replace.
Access control also includes time clocks, to determine at what time a certain employee was at a certain part of the hospital for example, or any other type of facility.
IFSS not only installs access control, but also area of rescue, sound and mass notification systems, fire and security alarms. These systems are used by some of the most secure buildings and facilities to include detention centers and airports. IFSS uses reputable and reliable brands such as Lenel, Hirsch, Open Options, DSX, Software House and Vanderbilt.
